{"id":1053,"date":"2021-12-16T20:13:17","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T20:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/board-policies\/?page_id=1053"},"modified":"2025-11-06T19:02:58","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T19:02:58","slug":"extracurricular-and-co-curricular-activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/board-policies\/student-services\/extracurricular-and-co-curricular-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"3.18 Extracurricular and Co-curricular Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>(Revised 5-12-2003, 12-6-2021)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>91ԭƬ will offer a range of activities to foster student development, enrich student life, enhance the instructional curriculum, and support the mission of the College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Procedures<\/strong> <em>(Revised 12-6-2021)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.1<\/strong> The Board of Trustees will approve all intercollegiate sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.2<\/strong> Coaches and athletes will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).\u00a0A copy of the rules and regulations is available through the Chief Student Affairs Officer\u00a0and Athletic Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.3<\/strong> Intercollegiate athletics will be funded from student activity fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.4<\/strong> The\u00a0College recognizes the Student Government Association (SGA)\u00a0as the organization that represents the students\u2019 view in matters involving campus improvement and oversees the activities of all other student clubs and organizations recognized as active by the SGA.\u00a0There is a maximum of one student government association per location (Union and Rolla).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.5<\/strong> Student\u00a0clubs\u00a0and organizations\u00a0must have an employee sponsor, file\u00a0an\u00a0application with the\u00a0Campus Life and Leadership Coordinator,\u00a0gather a minimum of\u00a0five\u00a0signatures of current 91ԭƬ students,\u00a0and be\u00a0formally recognized\u00a0by the Student\u00a0Government Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.6<\/strong> Student\u00a0clubs\u00a0and organizations\u00a0are governed by the constitution of the Student Government Association.\u00a0Failure to function in accordance with the\u00a0SGA\u00a0mission statement or constitution will bring about loss of approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.7<\/strong> Student publications are produced by students who are enrolled in related\u00a0Journalism\/Mass Media and English\u00a0classes and\/or\u00a0who are\u00a0active with the 91ԭƬ Student Media Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.18.8<\/strong> Guidelines for all student publications are available in the Student Publications Handbook available through the faculty sponsor or the Chief Student Affairs Officer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Revised 5-12-2003, 12-6-2021) 91ԭƬ will offer a range of activities to foster student development, enrich student life, enhance the instructional curriculum, and support the mission of the College.
