{"id":1671,"date":"2023-01-05T16:58:57","date_gmt":"2023-01-05T16:58:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/board-policies\/?page_id=1671"},"modified":"2025-01-13T21:40:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-13T21:40:35","slug":"course-and-co-curricular-travel","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/board-policies\/finance-and-administration\/course-and-co-curricular-travel\/","title":{"rendered":"4.49 Course and Co-Curricular Travel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>(Adopted 12-3-1968; Revised 8-28-2003, 12-5-2022)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel to support and enhance College courses or travel related to co-curricular activities is permitted and encouraged.&nbsp; No trip is to be taken without prior approval of the administration, and a full-time employee must accompany and supervise each trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Procedures<\/strong> <em>(Revised 5-12-2008, 12-5-2022)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.49.1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>Faculty members must complete the Student Travel Request &amp; Approval Form to receive approval for the travel from the appropriate dean and the Chief Academic Officer.&nbsp; The Student Travel Request &amp; Approval Form must be turned in two (2) weeks prior to travel.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.49.2<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As a general rule, student travel for all off-campus trips will be via the mode of transportation provided by the College and students will be accompanied by a full-time employee sponsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.49.3<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Faculty members will have the discretion to waive the College-provided transportation requirement if the student&#8217;s convenience or needs are better served by being permitted to use personal transportation to meet the group at the site of the field trip.&nbsp; Students using their own vehicles do so at their own risk and assume all liability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.49.4<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Students participating in College trips must submit all required forms and are expected to conform to the same standards of behavior as are published in the Student Code of Conduct.&nbsp; Any violation of College policies or local, state, or federal laws may result in disciplinary action by the College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.49.5<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dual enrollment students are expected to fully participate in all course activities, including labs and off-campus trips.&nbsp; Permission for participation is assumed and granted by parents and\/or supporters upon enrollment in College coursework.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Adopted 12-3-1968; Revised 8-28-2003, 12-5-2022) Travel to support and enhance College courses or travel related to co-curricular activities is permitted and encouraged.&nbsp; No trip is to be taken without prior approval of the administration, and a full-time employee must accompany and supervise each trip.
