Today\u2019s air conditioning and heating systems control the temperature, humidity, and cleanliness of the air in homes, offices, factories, and schools as people find ways to make their environment comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Controlling the environment is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Modern refrigeration systems make it possible to safely store food, drugs, and other perishable items. Energy efficiency and the cost of operation of HVAC\/R equipment affect us all as a society and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>East Central offers two tracks in HVAC\/R including a Day and Evening part-time option. A student will choose a morning or an evening program pathway for heating and cooling courses. The program has a blend of HVAC coursework, career preparation, and EPA certification testing. Students pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration will take additional general education courses such as math, English, written\/oral communications, and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Program Learning Outcomes<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Technical\/Equipment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Program graduates will demonstrate the technical knowledge and skills required to use industry equipment appropriately for employment in the field of HVAC-R. Evening students can complete this degree in three semesters. Students learn skills such as fabrication and joining techniques, basic refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, commercial refrigeration, electrical fundamentals, HVAC\/R controls, and design of HVAC\/R systems. In addition, students can test for the EPA license. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extra-Curricular\/Cocurricular Opportunities at 91ԭƬ: All HVAC\/R students have an opportunity to participate in DECA. ECC-DECA has competed regionally and nationally enjoying trips to Washington D.
